GABRIEL KNIGHT SCUMMVM PCThis is what I use currently (on PC / GCW Zero) for games that support it. The setup process may not be simple if you are not familiar with command line usage and file manipulations - but definately easier than the above choices are currently. GABRIEL KNIGHT SCUMMVM PATCHThat way you can get superior music - provided the game you are running supports / suppoerted GUS originally (or a patch was made for the support later on). ![]() GABRIEL KNIGHT SCUMMVM HOW TO(maybe in a future firmware, there's a Midi synthesizer running already on the background, to which DosBOX and / or other software can connect to, if configured properly).Ĥ) GUS Support: There are tutorials on the DOSBox Forums and elsewhere on the net, on how to setup a ULTRASND dir with the Gravis Ultrasound files, google for it. I'm not even sure the RootFS comes with any Soundfont for fluidsynth to use. The RootFS does come with FluidSynth, which could give some music, but it is not running out of the box. Also, the current MUNT focuses on accuracy, and it is very CPU intensive, which makes it unusable on the GCW Zero (I've tried).ģ) About GM / MPU-401: There's no Midi Synthesizer running on the GCW Zero out of the box, that GM / MPU-401 could be relayed to. However, distributing a usable DosBOX with MUNT is not perfectly legal (as it would require the MT32 / CM32L ROMs to be distributed). Keep in mind that also the game you're running in DosBOX will limit what choices you can use for a particular game (it depends on what it supported originally).Ģ) About MUNT / MT-32: I've actually re-compiled DosBOX with MUNT support for my personal usage. 4) GUS Wavetable music (emulated by DosBOX).3) GM / MPU401 or anything compatible midi data relayed by DosBOX to something external (HW/SW).2) MT32 Emulation via munt (not enabled on GCWZero DosBOX).1) SB (1/2/Pro/16) FM synthesis - or similar - emulated by DosBOX.Generally speaking, the alternatives for Music / synthetic SFX (as opposed to digital samples) on DOSBox are: Sadly, I also believe this is all that you can easily get out of DosBOX on the GCWZero. I believe from your post, that what you are getting right now, is Sound Blaster FM synthesis (and possibly digital audio samples) - all emulated by DosBOX. The former needs to match the latter to produce any audio. However, it really depends on two settings to set up audio correctly in DosBox for a particular game 1) The settings for the game inside DOS(box in this case) via the games setup.exe / setsound.exe / install.exe or similar and 2) Settings in nf and the capabilities of the host platform running DosBOX. It looks like right now only the first item is usable.I don't know about Gabriel Knight 1 nor Quest for Glory (since I haven't played neither). I'm using the CD version and the latest patch from Sierra too.Seems someone broke it recently. GABRIEL KNIGHT SCUMMVM FREEI was wondering if this was a known problem, since SCI engine is still being worked on? If so, then I have no idea how anyone has played and finished this game unless maybe the floppy version is free from this problem. So basically I'm not able to open the sketch book you find in your grandma's attic or interract with anything other than the tweezers. For some weird reason, I cannot seem to click on or interract with any objects in my inventory except the tweezers. I was also curious is there any way to enable the 640x480 VESA mode with ScummVM, since it ignores the resource.cfg file? I've tried various things, even with command line, to no avail. I'm using the CD version and the latest patch from Sierra too. ![]() Everything works fine in DOSBox but the problem is the audio pops from the original voice recordings are much less noticable when using Scummvm, so I was hoping to play through it with this. I've read from a couple places where people have said they've completed the game using ScummVM so I'm not sure what's going on.
